PDSES Application Projected Funding Timelines

The PDSES program operates on a waitlist. Funding is awarded in groups based on application order and eligibility. This page gives you the information you need to understand where your application stands. Review the application window data and funding group timelines below to see projected award dates, then use the Application ID search at the bottom of the page to look up your specific estimated funding timeline. Keep in mind that all timelines are estimates based on current legislative funding levels and are subject to change.

Program Funding Context and Projection Notice

The Parent-Directed Special Education Services (PDSES) program awards accounts based on funding appropriated by the Texas Legislature. Under Texas Education Code (TEC) §29.045, the Texas Education Agency (TEA) may approve and assign accounts only subject to available funding. In addition, 19 Texas Administrative Code (TAC) §102.1601(d) provides that eligible students receive grants only as long as funds are available and requires TEA to prioritize certain students for awards.

Given the amount of funding provided during the 2025 legislative session, the PDSES program is currently operating under a waitlist. This means that eligible students are placed on a waitlist until additional funding becomes available. The following chart represents an estimated timeframe for funding student accounts and is based on the assumption that funding levels provided by the Legislature in the 2027 legislative session will be similar to current funding levels. Actual funding levels are determined solely by future legislative appropriations and may be higher or lower than projected.

These timelines are estimates only and should not be interpreted as a guarantee of funding. Placement on the PDSES waitlist does not create a legal right or entitlement to receive a PDSES account, grant award, or services. Account awards remain contingent upon available funding, applicable law, program requirements, and eligibility verification under TEC, §§29.041–29.049, and 19 TAC §102.1601. Additional factors that may affect award timing include statutory and regulatory prioritization requirements and the reallocation of unspent funds from previously awarded accounts.
